What is the most influential passage in the Bible?

The Bible is one of the most widely-read and influential books in human history. It is the primary religious text for Christians and is considered a source of guidance, wisdom, and spiritual insight. Throughout the Bible, there are many passages that have had a profound impact on the world and have shaped the course of human history. One of the most influential Bible passages is the Sermon on the Mount, found in the Gospel of Matthew. The Sermon on the Mount is a collection of teachings and sayings of Jesus, delivered on a mountainside to a large crowd of followers. The sermon is recorded in Matthew 5-7 and covers a wide range of topics, including morality, ethics, prayer, and faith. It includes some of the most famous teachings of Jesus, such as the Beatitudes, the Lord's Prayer, and the Golden Rule. The Beatitudes, found in Matthew 5:3-12, are a series of blessings that describe the characteristics and virtues of a blessed life. These blessings have been interpreted in differen...

Religion and science - origins

“It’s all a question of origins” The origins of the world have always been a debateable topic with many different views and many sides of the argument. The origins of the world have been argued yet still people cannot come to a final conclusion. Some of these views are explained below. Scientific ideas   Many people believe in science being the source of the origin of the earth and the rest of the world. Man has always tried to look for the answers for everything independently. Now when the origins of the world are being questioned, humans have got science to get an answer; the big bang. If the big bang theory is scientifically proven then why doesn’t everyone believe in it? Almost all atheists in a recent survey said that they believed that the big bang theory was correct because it was something that they could relate to unlike God. They said “we can’t imagine what God did to make the world, was it like magic and it just came there.” The big bang sugge...

How did the world begin?

The creation of the world has always been a debateable topic. It has brought up many ideas and points of argument. It is one of the key questions in life and it is answered by almost all religions. It is one of the fundamental questions that can be the foundation of many people’s faiths. Another opinion is that the world was made from the big bang which is a big explosion which is sciences view. The big bang theory suggests that energy has always existed. Before time there was a massive amount of energy. Fifteen billion years ago (the estimated beginning of time) there was a ripple in this energy this expanded rapidly causing the beginning of time and the big bang. Matter began forming after 300,000 years with the first forms being what we call ‘particles’ there are three types of particles; protons, neutrons and electrons. Gravitational forces caused atoms to become attracted to each other. The early atoms were hydrogen. A minute amount of this hydrogen fused together to prod...

Euthanasia is it for the good or bad??

Euthanasia is it for the good or bad?? In recent times euthanasia has been a hot topic in the newspapers and in the news on TV. Euthanasia is defined as the act of killing someone else to relieve their pain or stress. It could also be considered as the practice of supplying someone with the materials for another person to commit suicide. It is mostly done to relieve someone who has an incurable disease and to help them pass away painlessly. Some people believe that Euthanasia is a way for a person to die with dignity and it can also be known as mercy killing. The law in the UK states that Euthanasia is a criminal offence and is classed as murder. In some rare cases, a person can take their case to court and rarely a judge allows for Euthanasia. Doctors in the UK are cautious of the law and 94% of them do not want a change in the law that would make Euthanasia legal. Throughout the world many people have conflicting views about Euthanasia and whether it should be legal. The C...

“The conscience is simply God’s way of reminding us how to behave” Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer and show you have considered different points of view. Your answer must refer to a religious view in your answer

I think that the conscience is a way of God reminding us how to behave but I think he isn’t reminding is but we already know how to behave and that we are born knowing what to do. I think that as we grow older we almost change our conscience and that we know how we have to behave and we change it a bit and we alter what we would think is acceptable. I think that in essence it is simply a way of God reminding us how to behave. But some people even if they do get reminded can chose to ignore or they can forget. Christians believe that the conscience is a gift from God and it is the gift to be able to reason and find out what is the right thing to do and what is the wrong thing to do. I think that it is a bit more subtle than this because God gives us the reasoning and if we pursue this reasoning we can know for sure what is right or what is wrong but if we do not pursue the reasoning we will have to refer to the bible or ask priests or look in the bible to find out what to do. Christia...

Does religious experience give genuine proof to the existence of god? Give reasons and show different views.

I think that religious experience is genuine proof to the existence of god because should people see a vision of god they aren’t choosing to see this vision but rather they are seeing it through the powers of god. Others may argue that these people could be making it up, nothing really happened to them and that these people are just attention seeking. However most of these people who have had these religious experiences tend to have a very strong faith and should they just be making this faith up they would be consuming a lot of their own time. Many people after viewing a TV show with Darren brown ‘converting’ people think that converting is just a psychological persuasion and Darren brown claims that he proved it however, I, in response would say are these people really being converted or did they just say something because they didn’t want to offend Darren brown. When he made all the people fall down they fell at different times, they may have wanted not to be the odd one out may...

Explain how a Christian would respond to someone who is homeless?

If a Christian saw someone homeless I would think that the first thing that they would do is help this homeless person. They may help them for many reasons. Firstly they would help this person because in the book of proverbs it says that when you are lending to the poor, you are lending to the lord, and if you help the poor you are helping the lord and he will repay you. This means that a Christian would most likely help a homeless person, and the lord should repay them. Secondly many Christians would help this homeless person for fear of what may happen to them in the next life if they don’t. Evidence of this is shown in the gospel of Luke in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. The parable speaks of how the rich man was sent to hell and couldn’t be saved because he was so greedy and didn’t give any of his food or drink to Lazarus. Christians also believe that you cant take earthly possessions to heaven and that you should share your wealth and give to others who are less fo...
