The Mayor of Casterbridge - Why is the ring at Casterbridge a suitable place for Henchard to meet Susan?

Why is the ring at Casterbridge a suitable place for Henchard to meet Susan? There are a number of reasons why the Ring could be considered a suitable place for Henchard to meet Susan.
